A cluster of thunderstorms moving down from the Great Lakes may arrive this evening and could be severe for parts of our area. The atmosphere has roughly 58 MPH of shear aloft, which favors strong, damaging wind gusts, and a brief period of large hail or a quick spin-up tornado cannot be ruled out. Very heavy rain with this line could produce localized flash flooding, especially in known flood-prone spots. The greatest risk appears near and west of the I-75 corridor, though the exact eastward reach of the storms remains uncertain. A cold front will sweep through Tuesday morning. While a few showers or an isolated thunderstorm are possible along the front, the severe threat should be much lower. Northwest winds behind the front will bring slightly cooler, drier air with temperatures a bit below normal through at least Thursday and possibly into Friday. Stay weather-aware this evening and be prepared to seek shelter quickly if severe storms approach.
